Chalice Well
Gardens at the foot of the Tor
The Chalice Well is a peaceful garden built around a natural spring at the foot of the Tor. The iron-rich water runs red and has been visited for centuries; many people come simply to sit quietly, and the gardens are laid out as a series of small spaces, from the Lion's Head where you can drink the water to the healing pool, the meadow and the well head itself.
The gardens are open year round, with shorter hours in winter. There is a small admission charge. It is about a 15 minute walk from the High Street, and it pairs well with a climb up the Tor, which starts nearby.
